Reasons why the United Kingdom UK continues to be a popular destination for international students graduate route visas scholarships and more

Young people from all over the world, but especially from India, flock to the United Kingdom to study at universities. There is a large influx of Indian students to the United Kingdom because of its world-class educational system, beautiful campuses, and abundance of cultural opportunities. It is well-known that students from all over the world flock to the United Kingdom to take advantage of the country’s extensive course offerings. It has maintained its reputation as a place where young minds in the fields of business, art, literature, athletics, politics, science, and technology can flourish and go on to achieve great success.

In order to better prepare Indian students for the international job market, the United Kingdom and India have been working together to internationalise higher education and provide access to globally relevant curriculum. Opportunities in education, research, and employment have been expanded through bilateral cooperation.

As a result of these campaigns, more Indian students are considering studying in the UK for college. The number of Indian students enrolled in a UK university in 2021–22 increased by 50% from the previous year, to 126,535, according to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). Indian students now make up a sizable portion of the UK’s total student population.

As a result, it is crucial for Indian students to earn degrees that are recognised around the world. Over time, however, the opportunity to pursue their desired global careers has become one of the most compelling reasons for them to choose higher education in the UK. Let’s take a look at the main reasons why the United Kingdom is such a great place for students to start their academic and professional lives:

A number of factors may account for the dramatic increase in the number of Indian students choosing to pursue higher education in the United Kingdom, but the introduction of the graduate route is likely one of the most significant.

This visa, which is also known as the Post-Study Work visa, allows international graduates of a British university to remain and work in the country for up to two years (three years for PhD students). Graduates can work in any industry, regardless of their level of experience, with this visa, and employers are not required to sponsor them.

Scholarships

The United Kingdom (UK) provides millions of pounds’ worth of scholarships and bursaries, including the Commonwealth Scholarships, the Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships, and many more, to Indian students so that they may attend some of the world’s finest academic programmes. Moreover, the United Kingdom’s universities and colleges provide students with a wide range of scholarship opportunities. Each year, the British Council awards a number of scholarships, including the British Council Women in STEM Scholarships and the British Council GREAT Scholarships, to deserving young Indians.

Scholarships for women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math are available from the British Council based on merit with no restrictions on the applicant’s country of residence (STEM). More than 200 Indian women have attended graduate school in the UK to study a STEM field since 2018. These awards are designed to address and improve gender equity in STEM careers by providing financial support to talented women who want to pursue Early Academic Fellowships and master’s degrees across the United Kingdom.
