ny rangers bleacher report

Troubled free-agent forward Jarret Stoll will be playing for the New York Rangers next season. The Rangers’ official Twitteraccount confirmed Monday that Stoll agreed to terms on a deal, while Chris Johnston of Sportsnet.ca provided the financial terms:The 33-year-old spent the last seven years as a member of the Los Angeles Kings, winning two Stanley Cup titles in 2012 and 2014.Stoll was arrested in Las Vegas in April and charged with felony cocaine possession, though it was later dismissed in exchange for a plea deal that included two misdemeanor charges, per ESPN.com’s Katie Strang. As part of his plea agreement, Stoll needs to complete 32 hours of community service. In terms of what Stoll can offer the Rangers at this point in his career, Rich Hammond of theOrange County Register offered an explanation:The Rangers have been one of the NHL’s best teams over the last four seasons, reaching the Eastern Conference Final twice and Stanley Cup Final once. They only need to make small tweaks to maintain or improve their positioning, so a low-cost player like Stoll fits.Stoll gets an opportunity to play for one of the league’s best teams, rebuild his value after a tumultuous offseason and doesn’t have to be a standout piece to make a difference. It’s a win-win move for both sides heading into the 2015-16 season.
